It proved straight-forward enough for Intelligence Cross as he justified his short price in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race at Navan.

Aidan O'Brien 's charge was sent to post a 8/13 shot for the extended five-furlong contest and tracked Flower Of May towards the rail.

Donnacha O'Brien asked his mount to hit the front a furlong-and-a-half from home and he asserted inside the final furlong. Mr Scarlet who had been kept out wide, stayed on to fill the runner-up spot but could only get within two-and-three-quarter lengths of the winner.

Intelligence Cross was dropping class having faced some stiff tasks this season behind the likes of Harry Angel and stable-mate Caravaggio.

“He’s a Group class sprinter and in a lower grade today he was able to show his class. That win will do him a world of good confidence wise,” said the winning rider.
