Daliyan ran out a cosy winner of the Clonmel Maiden Hurdle for the father and son team of Rodger and Colman Sweeney.

There were plenty in with chances at the second last in the two-miler but it was the 11/8 favourite who touched down in front.

Desertmore Stream tried to launch a challenge at the last but a mistake didn't help his chances and he couldn't live with the winner on the run-in, who went on for a three-length success.

The winner (available at 13/8 this morning, opening 5/4 on track) has chased home Kylestyle at Thurles on his previous outing last month.

“He won it handy and did it nicely. We'll probably go for a novice hurdle with him now,” said Sweeney senior.

“It's nice to get that after Salsify missing out on Cheltenham. He wrapped a joint. The vets said to us that they could give him shock-wave treatment and he might get there.

“I might be left without a horse though so we decided against it.”
