Hurricane Darwin was left to come home a fortuitous winner of the Killinan Maiden Hurdle after the last flight exit of market rival Union Dues

Adrian Heskin cut out the running on 11/8 favourite Hurricane Darwin but he looked booked for second when claimed by Union Dues going to the last.

The 6/4 shot crashed out, under Ruby Walsh, though and left the way clear for Alan Fleming's charge to claim victory.

He could afford to ease up in the closing stages to record a 12-length victory over 50/1 shot Taras Call

The well-backed winner (2/1 this morning) had chased home Yes Sir Brian at Fairyhouse on his previous start.

"That was a great bit of luck and hopefully both Ruby and the horse are ok,” said Fleming.

"He'll go chasing now as he'll be a novice from March 1 until October and the bit of nice ground should help his jumping a bit."
