Aerclub scored a 20/1 success on debut at Dundalk today as the Henry De Bromhead trained colt made a fine debut to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (Div 1) under jockey Wayne Lordan.

The son of Charm Spirit quickened well in the closing stages to edge past Dune of Pilat inside the final furlong to score a half length win.

De Bromhead wasn't present and Lordan later stated “he's a fine big horse and Henry loved him.

“He said if I was to get there to leave it as late as I could because he might be a bit idle in front.

“He travelled around good and went forward well. He had a bit of a look but he'd be entitled to on his first run. He's a fine big horse, handled the surface well and is very likeable.

“We didn't go mad but I thought we were quickening all the way up the straight, that's what it felt like.

“I'd say he's a nice horse going forward. He travels well but he relaxes so there is always a chance that he'll get further.”
