Robbie Downey claimed both divisions of the apprentice handicap at Dundalk this evening when the veteran Beau Satchel bounced back to winning ways.

Ado McGuinness' charge was produced to lead a furlong from home and kept on strongly in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarters victory.

The seven-year-old was gaining his eighth career win and his first since scoring at Leopardstown last October.

“He was dropping in class, and we put the cheek pieces on tonight. He’s in again at Limerick tomorrow but whether he goes or not is another thing. He handled the surface well enough so we’ll probably campaign him away up here.”
