Ballinaboola Steel's fall two out saw the second split of the Whitfield Orthopaedic & Sports Injury Clinic Handicap Hurdle develop into a three horse war. Joint favourite Ingleby Mackenzie was the one to come out on top at Gowran.

Sean Flanagan lost his whip from the last on Eoin Doyle's 11/2 shot, but he was still able to fend off Dixie Highway and Messie by half a length and a length and a quarter.

The Tramore winner from June 2nd was following up equipped with a first-time tongue-strap.

"It was great. We were unlucky earlier on (Zaofu 2nd in race 2) so it was grand to get that one. At Tramore he only barely hung on, but today he switched off and he has to switch off. He stuck at it well," said Doyle.

"We might look at a Flat race for him as well over a trip. There is a few options for him. He isn't winning by too far so the handicapper can't be too hard on him. It's great to get a win today (they sponsor the Jack Duggan) and we are delighted with him."

A.W. Short, rider of Tildas Icon trained by Patrick Griffin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was hampered at the second last.

E. O'Connell, rider of Toor General trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left through out.
