Drakensberg left behind his previous form in some style for Tony Martin at Dundalk tonight when running out an impressive winner of the first division of the mile-and-a-half handicap, giving Wayne Lordan a quick double on the card.

The five-year-old was backed from 10/1 into 5/1 on course and came to lead a furlong out.

He galloped on strongly inside the final furlong to record a comprehensive six length success over 25/1 shot Magic Sea

Drakensberg had never been a factor when finishing mid-division on his most recent start here last month.

The winner was warmly greeted by members of the Mulvany's Bar Syndicate and Martin said:- “The owners are a great bunch of sporting lads from Mulvany’s pub in Dunboyne.

“He had a few issues and things just didn’t work out but it worked out well tonight.

“He was a good winner tonight at any distance and any weight, so hopefully there might be another day in him.”
