The John Ryan trained Draycott Place followed-up on a recent win at Sligo, as he took the feature at Cork this afternoon, the Grade B Cork Racecourse Kinsale Handicap Chase.

Settled in second by Danny Mullins, the 7/2 chance took closer order from five out and hit the front after the next.

He came under pressure after the third last, and kept on well from there, going on to score by three and three parts of a length.

The front-running Another Rebel finished second under Martin Ferris for Mick Winters at 10/1 (from 14's), while A Decent Excuse (7/1) was half a length back in third under Jonathan Burke for Eugene O'Sullivan. Tell Us More making his debut for Gordon Elliott, was sent off the 11/4 favourite, and he was another half a length back in fourth under David Mullins.

Ryan said afterwards: "We'll try and win another big handicap chase and either himself or Kylecrue will run in the Paddy Power (at Leopardstown).

"I knew he had a serious chance and he could go to Galway for a 2m 1f handicap chase in a few weeks.

"He's only a young horse being a seven year old and I think he is nearly as good as Foildubh (stablemate). Foildubh was only beaten seven or eight lengths in the Lexus Chase so has a bit to go to beat him yet but the beautiful thing is that he can run anywhere between two and three miles.

"My horses are holding their form well but the likes of Draycott Place and Kylecrue are proper horses."

STEWARDS REPORT

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr.P.W.Murtagh, that M.J. Ferris, rider of Another Rebel, weighed in 1.7lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his clean record, suspended him for one race day.

D.J. Mullins, rider of Tell Us More trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped left throughout.

R. Walsh, rider of Upazo (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly and was pulled up.

L.P. Dempsey, rider of Mr Diablo trained by J.P.Dempsey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Upazo (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
