Eadbhard shot clear round the home bend to land the opening mile and five claiming maiden at Ballinrobe in taking fashion.

Tom Madden had him tracking Time Queen with a quarter of a mile to travel and once he was sent about his business he powered home from a furlong and a half down.

He drew well clear in the final furlong to post a victory by six and a half lengths at 6/1.

Time Queen (13/2) could make no impression in second.

Shane Duffy, saddling his first winner for over a year, said: "I've gone a while without a winner so it's badly needed!

"He's a handy little horse who we only claimed recently and he has come on since Roscommon. He needed the experience against older horses at Cork the last day and the small field tonight suited him.

"I'm delighted for the owner John Keogh, from Newbridge, who is a very good friend of mine and that's three winners for him now in two years."

Eadbhard got off the mark on his 13th career start.

No horses were claimed after the race.
