Jimmy Jimmy stuck to his guns well to land a bumper double for Gordon Elliott and Jamie Codd in the finale at Gowran Park this afternoon.

The 4/5 favourite hit the front with four furlongs to run in the two-and-a-half mile contest but was strongly pressed down the straight. Florey Spud got on terms over a furlong from home but Jimmy Jimmy found plenty for Codd in the closing stages to record a three-parts-of-a-length victory.

The winner had been runner-up twice, earlier in the year, and was making his first start since March.

Elliott, “He’d winter form and was probably entitled to win on his form.

“Jamie said he travelled well on the ground the whole way today and he’ll probably come on from it as he had a good break and is not in that long.

“We’ll go hurdling now and have a bit of fun with him. He’s owned by Brendan and Angela Scully who are good owners.”
