The likes of Thynetocatcher and Here For The Craic have provided the Connery family with plenty of good days, and their syndicate struck again with the Roger McGrath-trained Miss Eyecatcher (14/1) under Finny Maguire in the p2p.ie New Mobile Site Mares Point-To-Point Flat Race at Tipperary.

A big gamble went astray here with favourite Take A Twirl eventually pulling up over four furlongs out, and up front Miss Eyecatcher edged ahead in the final hundred yards to beat Leader's Choice by half a length.

That one's rider Eoin O'Brien soon stood up in the irons after being headed.

"She's a nicely bred mare and her ganddam is Miss Orchestra," said McGrath of the placed 'pointer.'

"The Connery family (syndicate) had a mare that won the Listed Mares Bumper at Navan and this mare could go down that route.

"There's a mares' winners' bumper back here in two weeks and she could go for that next before her summer break. She is from a real staying family and is still a big baby, who will come on further."

Mr P.D. Collins, rider of Take A Twirl, trained by Terence O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise and was pulled up.
