Eyre Square rounded off a memorable week for Gavin Cromwell, as she ran out a comfortable winner of the second divide of Island Mares Point-To-Point INH Flat Race.

Out of a Grade 3 winner in Inistioge, the six-year-old bay was placed on her previous five starts, two of which were in point-to-point's.

Expected to make the breakthrough this afternoon, the daughter of Doyen was sent off the clear 5/4 favourite.

Settled behind the leaders by eighteen-year-old Joey Dunne, the market leader took closer order from four furlongs out and was pushed along to lead over a furlong from home, staying on strongly from there to score by seven-and-a-half lengths.

Dual point-to-point winner Current Mood (9/2 to 3/1) finished second, while Greenhill Damsel was another three parts of a length back in third.

Dunne said afterwards: "The step-up to two-mile-four really brought out the best in her and going further she will be better again. She settled lovely through the race and got a lovely run through. She done it well in the end.

"It was my first time to ride her today but I had rode her a bit at home. I’m based with Gavin five days a week and I’m in Noel Meade’s one day.

"That’s my third winner and I just turned eighteen recently. Gavin has been very good to me.

"It has been a deadly week for him to have two Cheltenham winners and this just topped it all off."
