Pearl Of The West destroyed her rivals with a powerful front-running performance in the Eventus Handicap at Galway.

Billy Lee bounced out in front on the 6/1 shot and she kicked for home rounding the bend in the mile-and-a-half contest.

Pat Fahy 's charge stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a comprehensive three-and-three-quarter length success over the staying on Mr Adjudicator Hyperdrive sent off the 11/4 favourite, trailed in last of the 12 runners.

The winner was following up her maiden win at Gowran Park early this month.

"To have a winner here is all that matters to Martin (Cullinane, local owner) and I've been down with Martin since I was 10 or 11 and was show-jumping; it's as close to family as you can get really,” said Fahy.

"When I applied for a job in Carlow with Pat Hughes, Martin said 'shur I know him well' and that's how I started in Carlow."

Regarding Pearl Of The West he added:- "She loved the hill and in fairness I've to give credit to Peter O'Hehir (commentator and racing correspondent) as he picked the race for her after she won at Gowran; you need a bit of help from these boys and if you listen to them you'll get places!

"She might go to Cork for the Munster Oaks next."
