Gordon Elliott's Galvin was the ready winner of the BoyleSports Chase in Killarney to justify long odds-on favouritism.

Front-runner Summer Hill raced clear throughout, however, Galvin and Davy Russell were biding their time.

They closed up on Summer Hill at the second last where a mistake only stalled their progress temporarily.

Galvin was soon back in gear and came down the stands' side to sweep past Summer Hill on the run to the final obstacle.

He was nicely clear and safely negotiated it as Summer Hill took a tired fall. This left Galvin's stablemate, Make My Heart Fly to follow the heavily eased-down winner home.

There was 22 lengths between the 2/15 favourite and the 16/1 runner-up.

Davy Russell said: "it wasn't much of a race but it was nice to get him out and was ideal for him.

"He is versatile enough ground-wise and if he was to be competitive in a Galway Plate he'd have to reproduce his career best form."
