Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown House Stud completed a first-and-last races double at Fairyhouse today as the Gordon Elliott trained Champagne Classic routed his rivals in a personal last-to-first success under jockey Jamie Codd in the concluding Racing On New Years Day Bumper.

The son of Stowaway was delivered late by Codd and the pair stretched clear of 9/10 favourite Some Neck inside the final furlong when scoring a ten lengths win.

Afterwards Elliott stated ”he’s a big galloping horse and stayed well. I was surprised he was beaten at Galway but he was very green and babyish and was more of a man today. He will go over hurdles now.”

Gigginstown won the opener with the Henry De Bromhead trained Avenir D'Une Vie
