Just a day after the Red Mills Chase entries were revealed the Gold Cup entries have been whittled down to 20 and four of these horses may have their final prep race at Gowran Park in the aforementioned 2 mile 4 furlong contest this Saturday.

Chris’s Dream, Real Steel, Death Duty and Shattered Love are all entered in the Gowran Park feature race this Saturday.

In 2019 Anibale Fly trained by Tony Martin finished runner-up in both the Red Mills Chase and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Henry de Bromhead, winner of last year’s renewal with the Rachael Blackmore-ridden Monalee, has entered Chris’s Dream, a Grade 2 winner over fences last season and more recently winner of the Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan in November.

Of Gordon Elliott’s Gold Cup entries Shattered Love and Death Duty are both Grade 1 winning chasers and are entered in the Red Mills Chase.

Champion trainer Willie Mullins has Real Steel entered in both races, he is the highest rated entry for the Red Mills Chase and is a Grade 2 winner at Thurles last time out.

Gowran Park General Manager Eddie Scally said “The Red Mills Chase has a strong history of high class runners and our 2020 renewal looks just as exciting as ever. Its brilliant to see some horses with the Cheltenham Gold Cup on their agenda entered in this year’s race and fingers crossed they all turn up and make this a race for the ages.”

Final declaration for the Red Mills Chase will be known on Friday morning.
