Insignia Of Rank (7s into 11/2 at the off) registered his first win for over two years in the GAIN The Advantage Series Apprentice Handicap.

Down the field in a premier handicap at Leopardstown yesterday, the Epaulette gelding, last seen in the winners’ enclosure after landing a Listed race on Derby Day at the Curragh in 2019, looked set for minor honours when 50/1 chance Saywhatyouwant went past him in the final furlong but the 6-year-old rallied under Tom Kiely Marshall to pip that rival by a nose. Prime Chief (8/1) was just another head away in third.

It was a 19th success of the season for winning trainer Joe Murphy who said: “He came out of the race yesterday fresh and we said that we’d take our chance.

"It was a lower grade race but it’s great to see the horse back winning.

“Tom gave him a great ride and his claim is down to 7lb now after riding his third winner.”

Ray Hackett, trainer of the fourth home Sequoiaspirit won 5,000 euro worth of Gain Feeds as the top trainer in this series.
