Jake Peter is proving a great money-spinner for owner/breeder Frank McNulty, and the dual purpose gelding made it five wins in the space of just ten months when taking the Bet With Tote At Fairyhouse Racecourse Handicap.

The five-year-old gelding is that bit more special to McNulty having won nine races with his dam Kate Emily which was also trained by Pat Flynn.

The well-backed 11/10 favourite asserted well over a furlong out, and stayed on strongly under Ben Coen to beat the front-running Ingenuity by six lengths, with Contrapposto a length and a half further back in third.

Coen said, “He’s good and genuine. The last day the ground was a bit too quick for him and he never went on it but he really loved the bit of ease today. He did it well in the end.”

The talented apprentice is currently juggling riding with his Leaving Certificate exams and added, “I’ve just got technical drawing next Thursday and then I’ll be finished.”
