In a replica of her win at Down Royal two runs ago Jeremy’s Girl (5/1) made all to take the concluding mile and a quarter apprentice handicap at Naas.

Shane Gray had kept enough in the tank to just hold off gambled-on Pivot Bridge from the Ado McGuinness yard (6/4 favourite from 9/2 in the morning) by half a length.

It was a length further back to Massyoun and Sam James who was a pound over.

Lester Winters, who has 15 horses in training in Dunleer Co Louth, said: “When this horse won at Down Royal I had to rush back to the stable yard because we had a horse in the next race and I had left it with my wife who is seven months pregnant!

“Jeremy’s Girl will go to Galway. The last day it was only a mile [10th of 19 at Naas on 27 June] and she’s not a speedster. She seems to stay well.

“Of the four mares we have covered for owners this year three went to Jeremy and one went to Amadeus Wolf. I have a two-year-old by Jeremy that I like and they like this soft ground.”
