Johnny puts Bible to good use

Johnny Murtagh made the experience of Bible Black count in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden at Fairyhouse, soon in front, the twice previously raced son of Big Bad Bob stayed at it well up the straight to prevail by four and a half lengths.

This was despite Bible Black drifting to his left inside the final quarter mile. Ellell Duke a little green before halfway, ran a decent race on his debut to finish second whilst the gambled-on Captain Cullen (50s this morning into 7/1) had his chance in the straight but couldn't raise his effort from over a furlong out. This grand big son of Strategic Prince was unfortunately for his backers, run out of the placings by the fast-finishing Allusive Power

Ger Lyons trains Bible Black for Anamoine Limited and he said: "He is still very immature and quiet weak and he'll definitely make a better three-year-old than two-year-old.

"He is typical of his sire in that they all seem to be game, genuine and love racing. I'll take my time with him and let him grow up."
