Lightning Charlie made a winning Irish debut for trainer Johnny Feane at Dundalk today landing the concluding Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap (div 2) under jockey Robbie Colgan.

The eight year old son of Moyboycharlie won six races for Amanda Perrett before running three times without success for Iain Jardine in recent months. Today Lightning Charlie scored a first win since October 2018 when beating Comhgairdeas by half a length.

Feane later said “he's not with us that long and Robbie said he picked up well.

“He was rated higher in England in the past. They went quick and it fell in his lap, that was the way it worked out.

“He was a bit keen at home and in his races so we fired the eye shields on him just for a change, to steady him up a little bit.”
