Sheila Lavery will be hoping a slight drop in grade will see Lil Grey to return to winning ways in the Ryans Cleaning Event Specialist Curragh Stakes today.

With the sad passing of Lady Kaya, Lil Grey has taken over as Lavery’s stable star.

Winner of a decent event at the Curragh in June, the Starspangledbanner filly ran a huge race in the Albany at Royal Ascot to finish sixth.

That race has worked out exceptionally well since and Lil Grey did her bit to enhance the form when running a good race against the boys in the Group Three Anglesey Stakes finishing second to Mick Halford’s promising Roman Turbo.

She is mixing with the colts once more, including Joseph O’Brien’s Air Force Jet

Jim Bolger ’s Real Appeal was a Listed winner in France, but was well behind Lil Grey last time out.

Aidan O’Brien’s King Neptune has struggled since chasing home Siskin in the Marble Hill Stakes, while On Tick, Isabeau and Millisle complete the field.

The latter is trained by Jessica Harrington, who said: “She’s a nice filly. She didn’t quite adapt to the course in Down Royal and was beaten by a colt giving him weight.

“It was probably not a bad performance and she seems to have come on from there.”

David Broad has The Peckhampouncer out again quickly after his win at Tipperary on Sunday.

Following a string of consistent efforts he finally got his head in front and is top weight in the Luke and Nellie Comer Memorial Nursery Handicap.

Harrington’s For The Trees was a winner last time out at Sligo, while Mick Mulvany’s In From The Cold also won at the same track recently.

Dermot Weld ’s Zoheyr a well-bred newcomer from a famous Aga Khan family, is in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Harrington’s Yulong Voice brings the best form to the race having finished third first time out.

Rising star Ben Coen rides Whatharm for Pat Flynn in the Derek O’Sullivan Memorial Apprentice Handicap, while dual Galway winner Make A Challenge goes for a hat-trick in the TRM Kurasyn Handicap for Denis Hogan.
