There was a popular local success in the Two-Mile Borris Handicap Hurdle at Thurles where Like An Open Book scored for the Burke family.

Trained by John Burke for his sister Elaine and ridden by their brother Martin, the top-weight was adding to bumper and handicap hurdle wins already this year at Clonmel.

The 11/2 chance travelled sweetly to lead approaching the final flight and kept on well on the run-in to beat 5/1 favourite Turasoir who blundered at the last, by a comfortable two and three quarter lengths. Dylrow was a further three and a quarter lengths adrift in third, while Dixie Highway completed the places another half-length back in fourth.

Martin Burke said, "She was only broken as a six-year-old and is now seven and has a bit of class. We gave her time to develop and it has worked out well.

"We're based just two miles out the road so it's great to get a local win."
