Trainer/jockey Mikey O'Connor made the long trip from county Cork to Downpatrick today a profitable one when his Buster Dan Dan justified 7/4 favouritism to win the Fran And Maree Murrin Memorial Cup Maiden Hurdle.

O'Connor made all on the son of Buster King and while challenged by Better Back Bob at the final flight, stayed on well in the closing stages.

Afterwards O'Connor, who trains in Liscarroll, Co Cork, stated “he's tough and honest and is a terrier! He knuckled up the hill and I was always comfortable.

“He'll be off for a two or three week break and we'll probably come back here or go to Tramore, as he corners well. I've a good strike rate and love it here -they do a great job and the ground is well watered and safe.

“I'm delighted for his owner Noel O'Sullivan and the commitment he and his family have shown.”
