Abbey Magic completed a double for Rachael Blackmore and Henry de Bromhead at Navan, as she took the feature on the card, the Baroneracing.com Handicap Chase.
Successful on debut for de Bromhead at Kilbeggan last month, the seven-year-old daughter of Beneficial was well-fancied to follow-up this afternoon, going off favourite at 5/2.
Soon in front, the bay victor jumped well throughout, and made virtually all.
She was briefly pressed by Sam King approaching the second last, but was soon ridden and went on again, coming home four and a half lengths to the good.
The aforementioned Sam King (33s this morning and from 16s to 14s on-course) plugged on to take second under Darragh O'Keeffe for Ted Walsh, while 10/1 chance Fenlon's Hill was another length and a quarter back in third.
de Bromhead, who was earlier successful with Daybreak Boy said: "She jumped brilliant and it was a super ride from Rachael. She's a lovely mare to get and has won two (for us) now. To do what she did in a handicap making all around here is not easy.
"I wouldn't mind dipping back into a novice as it’s only her second run over fences. She seems to handle this good ground well.
"Rachael is full of confidence and you just leave it up to her and horses run for her. She is doing a great job and is as keen as all of us to get winners."
STEWARDS REPORTS
M.A. Enright, rider of Ask Susan trained by John W. Nicholson, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount slipped and lost its action.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ask Susan, trained by John W. Nicholson, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on the right fore post race.
