The Pat Flynn trained Marmalade N Toast made use of his flyweight to win the corkracecourse.ie Handicap at Cork today, making all in testing ground to score under jockey Killian Leonard.

Leonard's 3lbs claim reduced Marmalade N Toast's burden to just 8st1lbs and in the end the pair came home clean and clear, having made all the running to beat Shifted Strategy by two and a quarter lengths.

Afterwards Flynn stated “last year I was trying to make a two year old out of him but he was never going to be a two year although he always had ability.

“We had him fairly ready coming here today and with a bit of lucky I knew he'd run well. I thought he'd go on the ground and when I saw the small field and light weight we said we'd go out and make the running and if he wins, he wins.

“He'll come on from the race as he is a lovely block of a horse.”
