Marvel Fan caused a 40/1 upset to win the PRL Kilkenny Novice Handicap Hurdle at Gowran today, scoring for trainer Tony Martin and jockey Bryan Cooper.

Bought having won a French Claimer over fences at Pau in January 2020, the daughter of Masked Marvel was unsuccessful in 14 runs in Ireland but today, on her first run since the Galway festival, scored a two and a half lengths win from Cullaghs Star

Martin later said “they are great lads and they stuck with her. She had a few complications but touch wood we have ironed them out.

“She ran well on the Flat here but had a few issues, lucky enough we got them sorted and she has come good. We'll look for something similar again.”
