Eddie Lynam's Miss Power stayed on strongly to land the five furlong handicap in Down Royal by a couple of lengths.

Veteran Calm Bay who won this race in 2014 and 2015, made a bold bid by breaking well and leading throughout.

However, the 11-year-old gelding was collared inside the final 150 yards by the 8/11 favourite and had to settle for second at 14/1.

Jockey Robbie Downey said of the four-year-old filly: "The form of her second was very strong today - Go Kart being third and then finishing second in a Listed race. She did it well and she is still learning. I think she is only going to get better. She has a nice future I think.

"She briefly hit a flat spot just coming off the elbow after the two. Once I got stuck into her she was still plenty green and she is learning and is only going to come on with races. She hit the line well and she feels like a nice filly. A better run race I think would suit her. She has that turn of foot as well."

This was Miss Power's third win from five starts. She was also runner-up at Navan in May.
