Collaborating quickened up nicely to make a winning debut for Joe Murphy in the colts and geldings maiden at Gowran this afternoon.

The son of Bated Breath had attracted support at big prices this morning, backed from 25/1 into 5/1 before eventually going to post a 12/1 shot in the extended nine furlong contest.

Gary Carroll held his mount up before producing him to challenge over a furlong from home.

He got to the front in the final 150 yards and despite running a touch greenly always looked like coming out on top as he registered a three-parts-of-a-length success over front-runner Castel Gandolfo

The winning trainer said:- “He’s a bit green but we thought he’d run well. He’s a big horse and will be suited by a mile and two and maybe a little more ease in the ground.

“Gary was delighted with him and said he’d come on a lot from that.”
