After finishing second at Dundalk on Friday, ultra-consistent sprinter No Speed Limit maintained his remarkably reliable level of performance when runner-up at Southwell this afternoon.

Trained in Dungannon by Patrick McKenna and owned by his son, All-Ireland-winning Tyrone footballer, Conor, the Elusive City gelding showed his customary early pace under Kieran O'Neill and had a healthy advantage at halfway in the £20,000 Betway Handicap over a little shy of five furlongs.

The seven-year-old was pressed approaching the final furlong and, in the end, couldn't fend off the challenge of David Loughnane's 90-rated filly Caroline Dale as Laura Pearson's mount asserted in the closing stages to score by a length and a quarter.

The Irish raider, who was running from 7lbs out of the handicap, held on for second place money of over £5,000.

In his last ten starts, all of which before today's run have been at Dundalk, No Speed Limit has been runner-up seven times and third twice along with a richly-deserved success over six furlongs in November. In that time his mark has risen from 58 to 74.

The French-bred, who won twice in his country of birth before coming to Ireland, has won four times in all in 47 career starts and continues in fine fettle despite a fairly relentless campaign in 2021 which saw him race twenty-five times.
