Numberoneson wore down Avarice in the mile and a quarter handicap at Leopardstown to give Joseph O'Brien a treble on the card.

The Camelot colt was switched out from the rail to challenge a furlong and a half out. He kept finding but had work to do to reel in Avarice.

The 4/1 shot came home strongest, though, to catch Avarice close home. There was a half a length between the pair at the post with the runner-up going off the 10/3 favourite. Bella Brazil was a neck back in third at 7/2.

“He's given him a lovely ride. He carries his head in an awkward position and he said he was trying to keep him in there as long as he could and kid him along,” said assistant trainer Brendan Powell.

“When he went for him he said it took him a few strides but he did pick up and run on to the line.

“He had a lovely run the whole way around there and a lot of lads would probably have gone for him before the bend, you could see he was coming off it, but Shane is a lovely rider and he's kidded him along and thrown the reins at him more than anything and then went for him.

“He has only one more to lose his claim now.”

Numberoneson brought up Crosse's double. He was also on O'Brien's Galileo Chrome while Declan McDonogh booted home the stable's Federal
