Oh So True (11/2) got a nice run through on the far rail to win the Irish EBF Supporting Champions Weekend Fillies’ Maiden (Div II) under Wayne Lordan.

She led a furlong out before beating St Clerans by a length and a quarter with 7/4 favourite Menagerie (pushed along a fair way from home) keeping on for third another three and a quarter lengths away.

The winning daughter of American Pharoah is a half-sister to Yorkshire Oaks and Prix Vermeille winner Shareta, but seemed happier over today’s trip than when tried over further the last twice at Fairyhouse and Down Royal.

Getting off the mark at the fifth attempt, the 82-rated winner holds Group entries over the next few weeks.

Winning trainer Donnacha O’Brien said: “She’d a few good runs and was starting to get slightly frustrating but it’s nice to get her head in front.

“She travelled well the last day and didn’t quite finish out in Down Royal so we decided to step her back (in trip).

“I think she is going to be better next year if we get to keep her and we’ll try and get black type somewhere.

“To look at her you would say she wants a mile and a half but she seems to be better when she’s half flat out and keeps galloping.”

Of his Prix de Diane and Nassau Stakes winner Fancy Blue he added: “She’s in great shape and still being aimed at Irish Champions Weekend. It will be either there or France which is the same weekend.”
