The Michael Halford trained Massif Central gained a second career win at Dundalk this evening as he landed the Dundalk Stadium Light Up Your Night Handicap under Colin Keane.

The well backed 3/1jf gained his only previous win at the Co Louth venue in October 2017 and today ended this year's nine-race losing spell when beating Jon Ess by three lengths.

Jockey Keane later commented “to be fair to the horse he’s ran very well all summer in good races, and Niall McCullagh got off him the last day and said to come back to a mile and a quarter as a fast run race at that trip would suit him.

“They went hard there and he settled for me. He picked them up and made them look average. He’s not a bad horse when he does everything right.”

Winning owner Paul Rooney added “we’ve had to be patient but that has paid off tonight and hopefully will again in the future. When Michael (Halford, trainer) comes back from America we will sit down and plan where we go next.”
