Prince follows-up on point-to-point success

Awbeg Prince ran out a comfortable winner of the last at Cork, the Ticket Sales Online @corkracecourse.ie Flat Race.

The Mikey O'Connor trained six-year-old impressed when winning a point-to-point on his debut at Ballindenisk last December, and he was sent off at 8/1 today, having opened on-course at 13/2.

Settled behind the leaders on the inner by Chris O'Donovan (second racecourse success), he cruised through to lead early in the straight.

The son of Vinnie Roe soon went a few lengths clear, and he kept on well to score by five lengths despite drifting left in the closing stages. Optical Confusion (8s to 6s) finished second under Katie Walsh for Michael Butler, while Glebe Girl (10/1) was two and a quarter lengths back in third for William Cronin and John Joe Walsh.

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Galaxy Burg (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and confirmed the rider's report.

Mr P.W. Mullins, rider of Galaxy Burg (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was pulled up having made a respiratory noise.
