Gordon Elliott looks to have a more than useful prospect on his hands in Quilixios who ran away with the Ladbrokes 3YO Hurdle in Punchestown.

He won a French hurdle in March for Francois Nicolle and made an impressive Irish debut today.

The 1/2 favourite was nudged into the lead at the second last by Denis O'Regan and had recent winner Scholastic cooked before the last.

The Cheveley Park Stud colours came in by 13 lengths from the aforementioned Scholastic (5/2). The runner-up was 12 lengths clear of Battle Of Benburb (11/1).

Gordon Elliott said: “He’s a big laid-back horse and is having a good blow after the race.

“I’d imagine he’ll go next to either Down Royal or Wetherby which are on the same day (October 31).

“He’s a big galloper and will jump a fence in time.”
