Tirmizi has trainer Dermot Weld looking ahead with classic aspirations for next season after making a successful debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden at Leopardstown.

The Aga Khan's home-bred Sea The Stars colt challenged between favourite Stellar Mass and Reckless Gold in the straight, and really appreciated this mile trip.

The 4/1 chance led about 100 yards out under Pat Smullen and kept on well to beat Reckless Gold by half a length, with Stellar Mass another three quarters of a length back in third.

Weld said, "He's a very big colt and that was pleasing. Pat said he won with raw ability.

"He's come forward in the last few weeks, and did a nice bit of work the other day. He's got big potential, and will start off in one of the classic trials next year."
