Rewritetherules was an easy winner of the Glenview & Rathbarry Stud Novice Hunters Chase, quickly following-up on his success at Down Royal on Monday.

A surprise 20/1 winner at the northern venue, the John 'Shark' Hanlon trained five-year-old was sent off the clear 7/4 favourite this evening.

Settled towards rear by Tom Hamilton, the son of Jeremy made good progress as the raced down the back straight for the final time.

He eased to the front well before two out, and never came off the bridle, going on to score easily by eleven lengths. Bright Rhett (8/1) finished second under Eoin O'Brien, while Panthers Creek (16/1) was a further eight and a half lengths back in third.

The two fences down the back straight were again omitted due to the low lying sun, which meant just ten fences were jumped in this two mile seven furlong contest.

Hanlon said afterwards: "I was in three minds about coming here as after Down Royal I said if he was okay he'd run here.

"I gave the horse a blow at home this morning to make sure he wasn't dead in himself and he felt great.

"He was very unlucky not to win two point-to'points when he fell and that's why I bought him. He is a promising horse.

"He needs to learn to switch off, he's 17 hands and I'd rather if the fences were in it down the back straight today.

"He is a good replacement for Hidden Cyclone and he'll either run in the Stratford hunters chase or the other hunter chase at Listowel next."

STEWARDS REPORT

Owing to the low lying sun, the Stewards granted permission for fence 3 and 4 to be omitted from all circuits of this race.
