Top-weight Roi Du Mee saw out the three miles really well at Cork under Jason Maguire as grabbed Grade 3 glory in the Imperial Call Chase.

The pair were always in the front rank since joining Toon River seven out. Homeward bound and only four horses were in contention – Toon River, Roi Du Mee, Pandorama and Call The Police

But it was 9/10 favourite Roi Du Mee, trained by in-form Gordon Elliott, who forged his way home best to come in three lengths clear of Pandorama (5/1). Toon River took third at 12/1.

This was Roi Du Mee’s sixth win from his last seven starts. It was the third Grade 3 success of his career. He also won the Grade 2 Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse last month.

Jason Maguire said: “I probably sent him on early enough, but I spoke to Davy (Russell) and he says he stays well and goes on the ground. He’s a great consistent horse and has been placed well all year.”

The winner gave Maguire a double after winning the opener, also for Gordon Elliott, on Bayan

It gave Elliott a treble as he was on the mark with Mala Beach at Fairyhouse.
