Davy Russell partnered his first winner since returning to action when Galvin claimed the Like A Butterfly Novice Chase at Tipperary this afternoon.

The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding went to post a 1/4 shot for the Grade 3 prize following the withdrawals of A Wave Of The Sea and Sizing Pottsie.

It proved plain sailing for the hotpot as he tracked front-runner Waitnsee before taking a narrow lead turning for home.

The Gold Well gelding quickened away before the last to record a cosy three-and-a-half length success.

Russell only returned to race-riding yesterday having aggravated a back injury at the Galway festival.

“It was great and he's getting the hang of things. It wasn't the toughest of races but he's coping with things an awful lot better now,” said Russell.

“I'm feeling great now thank-God and it's great to get back on a winner.

“Gordon does a great job with all these horses and he's a fantastic man to be riding for. I'm delighted to be a part of the team.'
