A fine scopey colt by Bated Breath, Ones Are Wild (10/3) was prominent all the way in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (Div II).

He battled on well inside the final furlong to just hold the rallying Stylistic Approach (33/1) by a head.

The front two got a little bit close in the final quarter mile but there was no alteration to theresult after a stewards’ enquiry. Champion Green (8/1) made a very promising debut back in third and fared better than his stablemate Royal Blend (5/6 fav) who was fifth.

Mid-division on debut at the Curragh last month, the Donnacha O’Brien-trained winner improved nicely on that to give leading apprentice Gavin Ryan a 43rd winner of the season.

“The first day over six furlongs in the Curragh he jumped smart but after going a furlong he struggled with the pace and actually learned very little that day,” said Ryan.

“He was on his own most of the way.

“Today I got him up there with plenty of light and let him learn as much as we could

"He’s obviously very raw especially in the straight but I think he’ll come on a lot from that.

“I think he wants an ease in the ground, obviously not that severe and next year he’ll be a nice horse. You can even drop him back to six.”
