Saglawy (5/6 fav) overcame a lay-off since last Christmas to quicken away in good style and land the Listowel Races Supporters’ Club Failte Abhaile (Q.R) Race for Willie and Patrick Mullins.

A Grade 2-winning juvenile hurdler in 2018, the Youmzain gelding had too many gears for Newcross (11/4) and The Ballyboys (25/1) as he came home five lengths and two and three quarter lengths to the good to give trainer and jockey their third successive odds-on win in this event after Exchange Rate last year and Coquin Mans in 2017.

"He was quite keen early on and for the first four furlongs I had no cover and had no horses in front of me, said winning rider Patrick Mullins.

"Once I got him behind horses he switched off a bit and quickened away lovely.

"He had two good runs from a very good four year old crop from last year before he got injured. I think it looks like he has a nice mark on the flat and could be one for those staying flat handicaps.

"We think he is still well handicapped over hurdles and there might be a strongly run two mile hurdle in him; he was just behind (subsequent Galway Hurdle winner) Tudor City in one at Fairyhouse one day so we might look at that."
