Shadagann gave trainer Mick Halford a double in Sligo when recording a comfortable success in the two mile maiden hurdle.

The 7/4 shot raced in second as he kept even-money-favourite Crystal Earth within range. After jumping the second last, he hugged the home bend rail and was going much the better than his rival as he took up the running in the home straight.

Paul Carberry steered him over the last and the pair came home three lengths to the good. Crystal Earth finished second in a race dominated by the two market leaders. Runyon Rattler threatened to get involved when he tacked on to the heels of the front two coming to the penultimate flight. However, upon landing he came under pressure and was soon burned off. He did take third place at 7/2 but was beaten nine and a half lengths by the winner.

Mick Halford said: "He's genuine when he puts his best foot forward and that was straightforward.

"His flat form was good but I was worried about the ground."

Halford also took race three on the card with Shamash
