Pat Smullen got the best out of Tylery Wonder as Willie McCreery's charge popped up at odds of 16/1 in the Joe McGrath Handicap at the Curragh.

Tylery Wonder went a couple of places better than when third in this sprint in 2013, to again consign last year's runner-up, Captain Cullen to the silver medal position.

Smullen brought the front-running Tylery Wonder over to the rail from his box one draw at halfway, and he ultimately held Captain Cullen, and the unlucky in running In Salutem by half a length and the same.

Tylery Wonder's stable companion Ostantia faded to finish tenth.

"He got a break after the last day. The lads (Tylery Road Syndicate) took him home to Laois and threw him out in a field with cattle for a week," said McCreery.

"That draw suits him as he likes to race on his own. He doesn't even work with other horses at home."

The Stewards requested a report from W. McCreery, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Tylery Wonder, placed first, as compared with its recent form.

The trainer reported that a combination of today's draw and a more positive ride may have brought about todays improved performance. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the content of the report.
