Some Neck opened his account for Willie Mullins in decisive fashion in Limerick's two mile six maiden hurdle.

Despite having been a beaten favourite in his five previous outings, he was all the rage with punters who backed him down to 5/4 favourite from 15/8.

The five-year-old son of Yeats chased down front-running Moores Road on the run to the second last and was almost on terms at that flight.

He readily moved into the lead between the last two hurdles and strode away to score by seven lengths in the hands of Patrick Mullins.

“They went fast and he didn’t jump slickly but it would be very difficult to do it out of that ground. I think over three miles he’ll be a better horse," Patrick Mullins said.

"He jumped left at the last four or five but I don’t really know why. It’s great to get a win with him.”

Moore's Road was a springer in the market from 33/1 down to 11/1. His each-way backers received a healthy return as he kept on for second.

He was 11 lengths ahead of third-placed Freeway Space (5/1).

Willie Mullins had six winners yesterday (three in Limerick and three at Leopardstown) and this started him off with a bang on day two of the Christmas meetings.
