King’s Theatre broodmare Bonnie Theatre has remarkably produced three maiden hurdle winners in the space of ten days, the latest, Presenting Bonnie arriving in the Kilbeggan opener this evening.

In this KilbegganRaces.com Maiden Hurdle bang-in-form pair, John Ryan and Danny Mullins, put another winner on the board as Presenting Bonnie (4/1) beat two others that were prominent in the market, Say Goodbye and Tisadream by three and three parts of a length and a length and three quarters.

That pair came together at the last, necessitating a steward’s enquiry. There were no changes to the judge’s placings and Presenting Bonnie wasn’t long about asserting her superiority from the final flight.

“She is a half-sister to Ferdia and Bonarc who have both won for me in the last ten days,” said Ryan.

“My cousin Tom Meagher bought a half-brother by Mount Nelson as a foal that is going to the Goffs Land Rover Sale this year.

“The syndicate (Mules & Tools Racing) is made of 17 members of An Garda Siochana.

“She fell on her first chase start at Killarney last time but has schooled very well over fences and I think she can be a black type mare over fences.”

The Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages involving Monvour ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed fifth and Over Milk Wood (GB), ridden by K.J. Brouder, placed fourth, where it appeared that Over Milk Wood got tight for room and had to check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference on the approach to the last involving Say Goodbye, ridden by R.M. Power, placed second and Tisadream, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed third, where it appeared that interference had occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Rachael Blackmore stated that she suffered interference from the horse on her outside at the last, but felt it had no cost her a better finishing position. R.M. Power stated that his mount was hanging left on the approach to the last which he was concentrating on and as he was about to take off for the last, his mount went right of it's own accord causing interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that while Say Goodbye had caused interference to Tisadream it did not warrant a reversal to the Judge's placings. The Stewards were also satisfied that no riding offence had occurred and took no further action other than to advise R.M. Power to ride with more awareness in future.

Damian Murphy, trainer of Monvour, reported to the Clerk of Scales post race that his charge was injured.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Monvour, trained by Damian Murphy, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have a tendon injury post race.
