"He ran well here last week. They went no gallop and he got stuck in a pocket. Danny (Mullins) felt that everything went wrong for him,” reflected T J Nagle after watching his Rebel Waltz win the second split of the Morriscastle Handicap Hurdle at Wexford.

Second over the course and distance seven days ago, the Ambrose McCurtin-ridden Rebel Waltz (4/1 second favourite) here put the record straight in no uncertain terms.

A brilliant leap at the last copper-fastened a four and a quarter length win over Pat Coyne

Market-leader Silk Worm was five lengths back in third.

"His form is consistent in this grade,” elaborated Nagle on the home-bred.

“We'll tip away with him now and hopefully he'll win another one.

“He'll go over fences again too. The day he ran over fences he was unlucky to fall as he jumped the fence fine but just put his leg in a hole.

“He'll go for an average beginners somewhere if I can find such a thing."
