Trainer of the people's champion, Danoli, County Carlow handler Tom Foley (74) passed away today after a lengthy illness.

Many good horses were sent out from the Foley family's Aughabeg base, and the universally popular and humble long-time licence holder was viewed as a real horseman.

A thoroughly nice man and always a pleasure to meet Foley also had care of several other good horses with the names Moon Man, Royal Paradise and The Subbie readily springing to mind.

Fittingly Foley signed off with Rebel Gold winning on the big day at his local course, the novice chaser looking a nice prospect at Gowran on Thyestes afternoon last month.
