There was a tragic end to the Leopardstown Inn Hunters Chase, with winner You Must Know Me (9/1) fatally breaking his leg in the shadow of the winning post.

Trained by David Christie the ten-year-old son of Snurge made all under Barry O'Neill and was clear entering the straight.

He was ridden after the last and kept on gamely to fend off the effort of It Came To Pass by a length and three parts.

The runner-up was returned at 8/1 (from 10's on-course) under Brian Linehan for Jim Culloty, while Salsify (16/1) ran a cracker on his return to action, finishing four and a quarter lengths back in third under Richie Harding for Rodger Sweeney. On The Fringe Jamie Codd aboard for Enda Bolger, was sent off the even money favourite and he finished seventh on his return to action.

Enda Bolger said afterwards: "I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping for a bit better but at least we still have our horse. It's terrible luck on the connections of the winner."

On The Fringe is unchanged at 5/2 and favourite for the Foxhunters at Cheltenham with Paddy Power.

You Must Know Me, who was owned by Alistair Corrigan and Sarah Christie, was unbeaten since returning to David Christie from Henry De Bromhead.

He won three point-to-point’s from September to October, adding to his debut point-to-point success from February of 2012.

He won twice on the track for De Bromhead and owners Ann and Alan Potts, while he was second in a Grade 3 over fences at Naas in March of 2013.

The chestnut gelding also put in admirable performances to finish third in the Grand Sefton at Aintree in 2013, and sixth in the Topham at the same venue the following year.
