Aidan O'Brien's Long Island Sound maintained his unbeaten record when keeping on best to win by a length in Killarney.

Seamie Heffernan sent him to the front early on in this mile race but the pair were challenged by Elusive Heights with a furlong and a half to travel.

Long Island Sound (8/11f) knuckled down inside the final furlong to beat that well-backed rival (9/4) into second. The runner-up kept on but didn't threaten the winner in the closing stages.

There was a two and three quarter length gap back to World Of Good Just four horses went to post for this 20,000 euro race.

Seamie Heffernan said: "I thought the track rode a little bit tight for him and it wasn't ideal making all. He's a Group horse."

Long Island Sound was making his debut on grass after landing two races on the polytrack in Dundalk.

He holds an entry in the Group One St James's Palace Stakes.
