Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy combined for doubles at Punchestown today as the Gigginstown House Stud owned Sir Carno was the well supported winner of the Toals.com E250 Free Bets Novice Handicap Hurdle.

The French bred son of Lucarno was backed from 4/1 this morning and eventually returned the strong 11/4 favourite.

In the race, Sir Carno was being made work hard for his win as Shar Whats Therush was a persistent challenger in the home straight. However Sir Carno's job was simplified with the final flight fall of Shar Whats Therush and in the end, the winner held a two and a half lengths lead over Danse Away at the line.

Afterwards Kennedy stated “I felt like my lad was keeping going, the other horse (Shar Whats Therush) came with one run and that was it. I felt I had the measure of him.”
